One complaint I hear about the Apple TV (other than its lack of 1080p) is that it does not have any digital video recording (DVR) functionality.
Obviously, this is not included because Apple wants to use the Apple TV to help push TV and movie sales via the iTunes Store.
Ok, that is all well and good, but how do I provide my own, non iTunes content to Apple TV?
One solution seems to be teaming up the TVMax+ from Miglia with a MacMini.
Not only does the TVMax+ utilize tvtv and TitanTV electronic programming guides, but it will record content “on the fly” for both your iPod (and presumably iPhone) and Apple TV.
Looks like a sweet solution, but you know it will be pricey, especially when you will need a MacMini to complete its functionality…

Microsoft has gone to great lengths to tout its newest operating system Windows Vista as being capable of blocking spam.
Interestingly, Microsoft’s disregard for spam in the virtual world does not translate into reality. Apparently Austin’s finest took a guerilla marketer working for Microsoft into custody because he was littering downtown Austin with posters promoting the Zune.
Kudos to the City of Austin for having their spam filters (namely, the APD) up to date.
Losanjealous nabbed some pics…

The PC industry cracks me up.
I took part in a focus group for Microsoft and they asked us what the typical Microsoft user looked like. I told them that I thought their typical user was someone who had the need for a full-time IT support staff.
Looks like Dell is taking that concept to the next level with Project Nerd Buddy.
The essence of the ad campaign is that you do not need to take your computer to the shop to get fixed, the repair shop will come to you. In one of their promo videos a faux-scientist touts it as the “future of technical support.”
Here is a novel concept for the PC industry: strive to make hardware and software that needs little to no support. Then you will not have to rely on cutesy tounge-in-cheek gimmicks to make people aware of how to deal with things when they are broken.
